There are no jokes directed towards David’s sexuality whatsoever. The show also features David’s relationship with Patrick who becomes his husband in the last episode. Though we don’t see how David came out as pansexual, we see Patrick coming out to his parents in a subtle and emotional episode. Thus, the show is quite progressive in its way of storytelling and has won many awards for this.
