Ranked : 10 Best Characters Of ‘The Office’

“The Office” is perhaps one of the best television shows of all time. The sitcom was on the air for nine seasons and had the hearts of fans from start to finish. It was funny, heart-melting, and always entertaining, but the true reason that it was so great was because of all the lovable (and some not so lovable) characters.

The corporate plotlines were ever-evolving, but the real strength of the show was the odd cast of characters who worked together in a nondescript office in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

Though they are all memorable, some have aged better than others. Here’s our ranking of the 10 best characters of ‘The Office’ show.

10. Darryl Philbin

Darryl did his dues. He took the crap and kept running. He could’ve given up at the warehouse manager. Instead he worked his way upstairs into the office and then got himself a sweet job with Jim’s startup company. He was also sneakily really funny.

9. Andy Bernard

Andy dressed nicely, dropped a lot of nicknames, and always tried to be everyone’s friend. He was also the only member from Stamford to survive in Scranton, which shows he a strong guy. Andy went on to get his dream job and delivered one of the best quotes in the entire show to close out his character.

8. Erin

Erin was an adorable, funny, and clueless receptionist. You just can’t hate her. She always did something that made us smile. Her father/daughter-like relationship with Michael was also pretty cute and if you’re telling me that you didn’t tear up when she met her birth parents, you’re lying.

7. Stanley Hudson

Stanley is the true king of sarcasm and the master of the eye-roll. On the rare occasions where he shows emotion, you can always bet you’re in for a hilarious scene. Although he has many famous outbursts, my personal favorite would have to be when he yelled at Ryan. Also, he has the greatest laugh ever. He is one of the best characters of ‘The Office’ show.

6. Kevin Malone

Think of Kevin and try not to laugh. The chili scene, hilarious. The tissue box shoes at Jim and Pam’s wedding, top-notch. Laughing at the number 69 (lol, nice) and his immaturity in general, excellent. I could go on and on. Kevin was no doubt the funniest character that wasn’t named Michael, Dwight, or Jim.

5. Pam Beesly

Pam started as a mild-mannered receptionist in a bad relationship and ended up as a strong woman with the best husband in the world. She was the glue that held everyone in the office together and her relationship with Jim made everyone cry on more than one occasion. She’s the true queen of Dunder Mifflin

4. Creed Bratton

Creed doesn’t get many lines, but a very strong case can be made that his character gets more laughs on a per-line basis than anyone on the show. With his mysterious past and his completely amoral view on the world, it’s like a character from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia somehow ended up in Scranton, where he spends his days stealing, slacking off and getting other people fired. Undoubtedly, he is one of the best characters of ‘The Office’ show.

3. Jim Halpert

We all may or may not still be in love with him even though the show ended years ago. His jokes, his charm, his humor, all of the facial expressions and everything about his love for Pam is amazing. But what I think is better than all of that is his ability to torture Dwight in the most creative ways. His most iconic moments often involve his pranks, with his most famous hoax being when he dressed up as Dwight and imitated him.

2. Dwight Schrute

At number 2, we have the one and only Dwight K. Schrute. It does not get much better than Dwight. His combination of hilariousness and seriousness is what makes him such a great character. He has had so many memorable moments in the show, with his most famous scene being the fire drill during the episode, Stress Relief.

He’s the most majestic and untamed character of any show in the history of the world and the best assistant to the regional manager of all time. His loyalty to Michael was above and beyond and if anyone deserved to be regional manager, it was Dwight. He is one of the best characters of ‘The Office’ show.

1. Michael Scott

Who else could be at the top of the list? How did we survive two seasons without Michael Scott? He was the definition of ridiculous and his love for Dunder Mifflin and all of his employees was beautiful.

Michael Scott isn’t just the best of The Office characters, he’s one of the best characters of modern television, period. The complexity of his character is astonishingly unique, as Steve Carell played the skilled salesman-turned-awful and oblivious manager in a way no one else could. With an uncountable number of iconic moments, Michael is what makes the show great. His ridiculousness and love for Dunder Mifflin truly make him the world’s best boss.
